This manual is an essential tool for JPIA members in
developing job descriptions for their employees. Job
descriptions are critical tools for every organization and
they provide:
- An efficient description of the work performed by
employees;
- Information for planning and budgeting purposes;
- Assistance in recruitment and selection of staff;
- Information for the development of an equitable salary
structure; and
- A basis for the implementation of personnel management
procedures, such as employee evaluations, promotions,
fitness-for-duty, disciplinary actions, workers'
compensation issues, and more.
The Manual is broken into several sections to include
information on the Americans With Disabilities Act, the
employment process, and development of job descriptions. The
Manual also includes 64 specific water district job descriptions
that were developed with the assistance and coordination of
resources from JPIA members. Although they may not exactly fit
every position, they can be customized to fit.
