ACWA JPIA Offers Water Industry Recruitment Toolkit During Water Professionals Week

As part of California’s seventh annual Water Professionals Appreciation Week, ACWA JPIA is proud to take a moment and highlight the essential role of water professionals and public water agencies. The JPIA would also like to encourage Members who are hiring new staff members to utilize the recruitment toolkit, created by ACWA and ACWA JPIA, which was released earlier this year.

There are so many careers in water that keep water flowing in the communities throughout California, including district managers, customer service representatives, treatment plant operators and engineers to name a few. Reaching and hiring the next generation of employees, who often find out about job opportunities via social media or other online platforms, is imperative to continue the work to deliver a safe and reliable water supply throughout California.

Recruitment Toolkit

The toolkit contains resources to help member agencies recruit a high-quality, diverse candidate pool. It is available for Members to download from ACWA’s website and includes the following items:

  • Water Quality/Testing
  • Leadership
  • Finance
  • Engineering/Operations
  • Community/Education

The testimonial videos are a great tool to use at career fairs, on social media, on your website and in any other recruitment efforts your agency has, to encourage candidates to consider a career in water.

ACWA JPIA is a partnership of California water agencies dedicated to avoiding the high cost of commercial insurance. The JPIA appreciates the dedication of our Members’ highly trained operators, technicians and other specialists who ensure their communities have safe and reliable water, wastewater, and recycled water services. The JPIA is proud of water professionals throughout the state for making a difference in their community.

For questions on the toolkit, please contact hr@acwajpia.com. For JPIA Liability Program Members, a complimentary Employment Practices Hotline is available at 800-231-5742.
