ACWA JPIA Welcomes Two New Staff Members

ACWA JPIA is experiencing a high number of new hires due to staff retirements.  The JPIA is fortunate to have had two new hires, to the Risk Control and to the IT departments, who are already making significant contributions to the JPIA.

The first new employee is an addition to the Risk Control team. Paul Myers joined the JPIA on February 1, 2023, as a full-time Risk Control Advisor II and is passionate about helping people maintain a safe working environment. Paul has over twenty years of experience in workplace health and safety and has a passion, as he states, for “protecting people, our most valuable assets.”

Prior to joining ACWA JPIA, Paul served as a Senior Staff Services Analyst with Placer County. Previously he worked as a senior Safety Specialist for the County of Sacramento and as a Safety Specialist for the Sacramento County Airport System.  Paul also possesses multiple training and certification credentials. He is a wonderful addition to the JPIA Risk Control team.

Paul is most proud of building and administering safety programs from the ground up for organizations.  Paul was also named Safety Professional of the Year by Safety Center Incorporated in 2019. For fun, Paul loves to exercise, and he enjoys sports, home projects, and most of all, spending time with his teenage daughter.

JPIA is also pleased to have a new Information Technology Support Specialist on board.  Mike Whitright joined the JPIA on January 10, 2023, as a full-time IT Support Specialist.  Prior to joining the team, Mike served as a contractor at the JPIA for six weeks. Mike brings a wealth of IT experience, skills, and knowledge to JPIA. He has served as an IT professional over the past 15 years in a variety of technology roles.

Mike is most passionate about learning and creating.  He states: “When you stop learning you limit your own productivity.” A previous accomplishment of Mike’s is the time when he developed a solution to reduce the percentage of high-volume calls that were frequently escalated to the IT escalation team at Robert Half Corporate.  After gaining staff input, Mike was able to reduce the escalations from 80% to 5%. For fun, Mike enjoys learning and professional development and helping his daughter with school projects. Mike also enjoys arts and crafts, Legos, visual creations, and gaming including consoles, board games, Minecraft, and Hogwarts Legacy.

The JPIA welcomes Mike and Paul and wishes them happy and successful careers with our organization!
