Molly Quirk, Communication & Outreach Specialist

Andrew Corral, Senior Risk Advisor

New Additions to ACWA JPIA Staff

The JPIA recently added a new role, Communication & Outreach Specialist, & hired a Senior Risk Advisor.

Like many of our members, ACWA JPIA is experiencing staffing changes such as retirements and therefore, the hiring of new staff. Fall 2022-March 2023 found the JPIA quite busy planning the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of six new employees.

During the summer of 2022, ACWA JPIA realized its lack of an online presence and engagement with social media could hinder involvement with members, and our ability to reach a diverse audience in the recruitment process. Therefore, a new position was created – Communication and Outreach Specialist.

Luckily, ACWA JPIA hired someone with great knowledge of social media, digital communication, and outreach. Molly Quirk started in October and is already contributing ideas and innovations. Molly joined the JPIA with nearly a decade of experience in communications which includes social media management, podcast production, content creation, online promotional materials, and email campaigns. She is tasked with coordinating the messages sent out by each ACWA JPIA department and managing the JPIA’s social media accounts to assist in reaching members and prospective employees. Molly lives in Sacramento and enjoys all things outdoors – hiking, walking, backpacking and just hanging out in nature. Welcome, Molly!

JPIA also hired a new Senior Risk Advisor in the fall. Andrew Corral will take the place of Peter Kuchinsky who retired in March. Andrew came to ACWA JPIA from a member agency, South Coast Water District, where he was the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for over three years. Before that, he worked for the City of Burbank for thirteen years in safety. Andrew brings in-depth knowledge of safety as it relates to water agencies.

Andrew also enjoys the outdoors and spends time with his family camping, kayaking, and fishing along with beach bonfires and snow sports. He recently found himself a “wrestling Dad”, attending events for his daughter who made it to the CIF regional finals. He resides with his wife and three children in Dana Point. ACWA JPIA is pleased to welcome Andrew!
